Physical-layer network coding in coherent optical OFDM systems.
We present the first experimental demonstration and characterization of the application of optical physical-layer network coding in coherent optical OFDM systems. It combines two optical OFDM frames to share the same link so as to enhance system throughput, while individual OFDM frames can be recovered with digital signal processing at the destined node.
متن کاملPhysical Layer Network Coding
A main distinguishing feature of a wireless network compared with a wired network is its broadcast nature, in which the signal transmitted by a node may reach several other nodes, and a node may receive signals from several other nodes simultaneously. Rather than a blessing, this feature is treated more as an interference-inducing nuisance in most wireless networks today (e.g., IEEE 802.11). Th...
متن کاملSynchronization Analysis in Physical Layer Network Coding
Physical-layer Network Coding (PNC) makes use of the additive nature of the electromagnetic (EM) waves to apply network coding arithmetic at the physical layer. With PNC, the destructive effect of interference in wireless networks is eliminated and the capacity of networks can be boosted significantly. This paper addresses a key outstanding issue in PNC: synchronization among transmitting nodes...
متن کاملAlgebraic Approach to Physical-Layer Network Coding
The problem of designing physical-layer network coding (PNC) schemes via nested lattices is considered. Building on the compute-and-forward (C&F) relaying strategy of Nazer and Gastpar, who demonstrated its asymptotic gain using information-theoretic tools, an algebraic approach is taken to show its potential in practical, non-asymptotic, settings. A general framework is developed for studying ...
